CISO and DPO at Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity

Gabriela works as a CISO and DPO at Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity. She also advocates methods to assess and improve the cybersecurity posture of SMEs by using open source tools as well as using cybersecurity standards and privacy-friendly practices.

She started her journey in cybersecurity as a software developer for an antivirus company. Then she got interested in the security of distributed systems, so she decided to work as a researcher on security policies, security metrics, and the tradeoffs between security and performance in computer networks,. While in Luxembourg, Gabriela’s research also covered the security of IPv6 in open source clouds, troubleshooting software defined networks, and cryptography in eHealth. Gabriela then turned to industry and became a consultant and trainer in privacy and data protection. She worked for 4 years as a manager and senior manager at PwC Luxembourg, helping large financial clients understand and implement GDPR requirements, and set the foundations for a long-term privacy and cybersecurity culture. She holds a PhD title in computer security from the University of Trento (Italy), is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (2019), a ISO27001 Lead Implementer (2024), and her Google Scholar profile can be found here.
