Biography
John McLean is Vice President Global Blockchain Labs Engagement Executive, IBM. Prior to this appointment in October 2013, John was Vice President of WebSphere Connectivity and Integration Development leading development teams worldwide as well as Director of the IBM Hursley Laboratory in the United Kingdom and head of UK M&D.
John joined IBM in 1983 and has held technical and managerial positions in both hardware and software development. His experience is wide ranging across IBM software, with development management roles in CICS/ESA, Distributed CICS, WebSphere Family, and Language products. Prior to leading the C&I portfolio, John was the Director of WebSphere Service Registry and Repository Development, pioneering agile development processes within the IBM Corporation to speed the time to market of this critical Service Oriented Architecture technology. Preceding this, John was the WebSphere Application Server (WAS) Development Director on assignment in Raleigh, USA. During the 3 years spent in this role he led the WAS development team who were spread across multiple sites and countries, to the successful delivery of many releases of this flagship IBM product.
John received his degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Edinburgh University. He is a Chartered Engineer and member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
